Fed up with the only son addicted to drinking and gambling, the father hit him on the head with a Batkhara (Bat). The injured son died in the hospital during treatment. The police of Baragaon police station arrested the accused father Premu Kannaujia, a resident of Parsadpur village of Varanasi, on Saturday on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Premu was presented in the court and sent to jail in judicial custody.
Premu Kannaujia, a resident of Parsadpur village of Badagaon police station area, has a cloth press shop in Bhojubir. Premu’s only son Rohit alias Rahul (30) used to mortgage his household goods due to his addiction to alcohol and gambling. Prior to this, Rahul had also sold his ancestral land due to alcohol and gambling.
Rohit died on 26 May
On May 9, in an inebriated state, Rahul had a fight with his father. Angry Premu hit him on the head with a 500 gram Batkhara (Bat) kept nearby. After this, the injured son was taken to a private hospital in Shivpur and admitted for treatment. Rohit alias Rahul died on 26 May during treatment.
